How the Grants procedure works...
The Trust gives approximately £60 - £70K per annum in the form of grants to registered charities, organisations, schools and individuals. As well as giving grants, the Trust also organises and facilitates arts activities locally.

Organisations and individuals seeking a grant should speak with the Director before applying to ensure that their project is suitable and meets the criteria. There is a simple application form to complete (available below) which must be returned by one of the four annual deadlines - see below. The Board meets after each of these deadline dates to discuss the grant applications received and other arts initiatives in the Borough, and determines how available funds will be distributed.

It is vitally important to get the timing of your application right. The Trust never gives grants retrospectively, and the project should take place at least one month after the deadline to be considered.
What sort of grants are available?

The Trust gives grants in a number of broad categories:

PROJECT GRANTS can be given to assist with the funding of specific arts-related projects. Typical examples of eligible projects include commissions of new work from professional artists; educational programmes; participative arts activities, particularly for young people and retired people; marketing initiatives and audience development strategies; organisational and professional development / training programmes / management consultancies to improve the skills and/or long-term stability of an organisation.

UNDERWRITING GRANTS can be given to underwrite an event or project, helping to fund the difference between the lowest expected box office return and the cost of the event.

CAPITAL GRANTS can be given to support the procurement of specific, arts-related capital equipment such as stage lighting, sound systems or the purchase of musical instruments or equipment.

It is imperative that your completed Grant Application reaches us in advance of one of the Grant Deadlines, which are:
Monday 9th January 2012
Monday 16th April 2012
Monday 9th July 2012
and Monday 8th October 2012
