The R C Sherriff Trust , in partnership with Walton Business Group, The Heart and many others once again brought Walton to a standstill with a stunning procession of lanterns. The High Street was closed to traffic for the day, and as darkness fell the procession led by Pipers wound its way through The Heart, along New Zealand Avenue and the High Street before ending at the Christmas Tree. At 7pm the lights were switched on by the Mayor of Elmbridge, Cllr. Barry Cheyne, ably assisted by Father Christmas himself! The Trust would like to say a big thank you to all our artists and everyone who helped in making this year's event the best ever! Local photographer Ted Palmer took some excellent images of the procession, and also visited Chandlers Field school before the event to watch children making their lanterns for the procession.
