Martin Daldorph conducts Claygate Choral Society in Handel’s 'Israel in Egypt'.

Although less than successful when premiered in 1739, today the oratorio is judged to be a monumental example of Handel’s talent. The work vividly recounts the Biblical story of Israel’s suffering at the hands of Pharaoh as captives in Egypt, and their final triumph over the might of Pharaoh’s army at the crossing of the Red Sea .
