In 2004/05 the RC Sherriff Trust supported an exciting and adventurous project in collaboration with Arts Council England and riverhouse which aims to bring a flavour of Russia to Elmbridge. The Russian Fantasy project - which began in October 2004 - reached its culmination in March 2005 with a number of events featuring film, music and Russian folklore.

In what promised to be a wonderful series of events, we were especially excited about the performance of a unique work featuring the stories and voices of local schoolchildren who had created their own tales inspired by Russian music. The Trust engaged professional storyteller Kevin Graal and The Barbican Trio to work with students from local schools on some of the myths and legends of Russian folklore in a bid to explore the power and scope of language and its interaction with the emotions of classical music.
