Following the success of the 2017 & 2018 Competitions, The R C Sherriff Trust is excited to announce that the 2019 Young Musician of the Year Competition is open to musicians and singers. This is a fantastic opportunity open to young people aged 24 or under on 25 November 2019 who have reached the standard of ABRSM Grade 4. Applicants do not need to have taken formal exams but must be able to confidently play their instrument and/or perform the style of songs that is required for this Grade. Age 11-18 (Prizes 1st £300, 2nd £200, 3rd £100)

The closing date for the video auditions: Monday 4 November 2019


Applicants must submit THREE pieces of music/song choices from which the judges will select to be performed in the semi-final and final if the audition is successful.


Audition is by Video Submission. The applicant should submit a video of a performance of only ONE piece of music/song from the three submitted pieces.


Video submissions: The video recording must be of a good technical quality. Submissions must include the following information: recording date, song title, composer, song duration.


Deadline for Video Submissions will be Monday 4 November 2019. No submissions can be accepted after that date.


Candidates will be notified of whether they have made the semi-final by email by 8 November 2019.


A maximum of 5 candidates in each category will be admitted to the semi-final.

The Semi-finals will be held at Rivehouse Arts Centre on

Wednesday 20 November (Voice) and Thursday 21 November (Instrument).

The Finals will be held on the weekend of the 23 (Voice) and 24 November (Instrument).
